A beautiful Royal palace built on the slopes of Megha Hill in Dhenkanal by Singhdeo Dynasty. The construction started at 1935 and completed at 1943. Now it is belongs to Kumar Saheb Jeetendra Prasad Singhdeo and his wife Nabnita Devi. It is the place where you can find nature all around. The building was grand, and spacious with many historical artifacts and photographs which gave the place a real sense of history. Gajlaxmi Palace was a little slice of paradise amongst the chaos.

Know Your Homestay

The Hosts of the palace J.P. Singhdeo and his wife turned their royal palace into a heritage homestay. They wish to give visitors a taste of authentic Indian hospitality, which includes home cooked food from their own gardens, eaten at their own dining table. Currently they have two lovely airy downstairs rooms with marble bed and high ceilings with a traditional yet grand feel for guests. There was plenty of history and artifacts to learn. The palace is a marvel in itself - like stepping into a bygone era; High ceilings, ornate furniture, stunning relics and jungle vistas from the balconies and rooftop.

The palace is surrounded by thick forests and some small villages where the guests can visit and enjoy the nature. You will see mango orchards, cashew/sal/teak trees, paddy fields, brick factory, and fish in a tank built by the grandfather. And there is so much more to see like tribals, handicraft villages and special temples built by the grandfather too.
