Far away from crowd, a tribal homestay nested in Goudaguda, a pottery producing village in the tribal district Koraput, Odisha. This tribal cottage name is Chandoori Sai. It is made by an Australian gentleman Mr. Leon Mahoney. He had come to India as a supervisor for the Highway construction company and fell in love with the area and took an acre of land on lease. Then he went on the construct the resort with the local materials & technology. He discovered the potters' village around that area and had utilized their skill to produce the roofing, flooring tiles & other pots etc. It is the idea of a single person but it is carved and shaped by a dozen hands of the tribal woman of Gouduga-village

The whole place had been made by hand by the owner along with workers from the local village. The guesthouse has been styled on the local housing in the village and is built of the same handmade bricks (which we saw them making). The walls are then painted with the natural ochres found in the local area. Some of them were even metallic colours. Every door is unique as they are all hand carved and decorated. The 5 double rooms are large and nicely furnished in the local style, with excellent bathrooms and the magnificent floor tiles from the backyard kiln, elaborate handcrafted doors by local carpenters, pottery and roof ornaments. In the middle of the building is a beautiful area that houses the dining/lounge room. The warm terracotta tiles on the floor glow in the morning sun, large earthen wear pots made by the villagers sit wonderfully in corners and nooks and colourful saris have been draped across the ceilings. There is a very nice garden, complete with ducks, geese and even a couple of sheep.
