It is a 'Kula Parvata' along with Malaya, Sahyadri, Parijatra, Shuktiman, Vindhya and Malyavaan. In our spiritual books written that Parashurama practiced penance for a long time on the Mahendra Mountain. It is surrounded by hill rocks, thick forest and the natural habitats. From the hill-top trekkers are rewarded with a mesmerizing view of the surrounding area, as the hills look like huge waves amidst the clouds. The calming waters of the nearby Mahendratanaya River, the blue bay on the horizon and the mountain-top scenery are the reason Mahendragiri is a popular adventure destination. The 4,943 feet high peak Mahendragiri is one of the highest spots in eastern India and close to the Bay of Bengal.
There are two routes to reach the peak of Mahendragiri Hill top:

Similar is the story with yudishtar, Bheema temples and pandava caves as well.
A Daru Bramha Temple is in the top and on the way you can find the rocks where the Pandavas use to sit on. There is an Arjuna Cave; it is believed that there is Arjuna did his tapasya. There you can also find a Shiva linga with a serpent hood. It is the best place for nature lovers.
