Balukhand wildlife sanctuary is located on the marine drive road from Konark to Puri. It otherwise called as Konark wildlife sanctuary. It spread over around 40 Km along the cost line. Spotted deer abound in the area but the star attraction is the rare Black-buck. The other species found here are Black-Buck, Hare, Olive Ridley, Jackal, hyenas, Jungle cat, Monitor lizards, etc. Two rivers, namely the Nuanai and the Kushabhadra, which are subject to tidal influences, pass through the sanctuary and the river mouths are part of the sanctuary area. Due to coastline, animals and casuarina and cashew trees it becomes most attractive tourist destination.
