It’s is a popular destination for all over Odisha and Andra during MAHAA SHIVRATRI. Mahendratiri Hill is situated in Eastern Ghat of Odisha and 42 km from the Paralakhimundi City. This is the second highest mountain peak of Odisha. The River Mahendratanaya flows from the Mahendragiri hill. This hill is known for Red Sandalwood and Medicinal Plants in Odisha.

As per the Mythological and archaeological aspects, Panchupandavs and parsuram were sheltered in this mountain for few Days. Mahendragiri Hill is referred as Mahendra parvat in Ramayan. The highest peak of this hill is 51 Kms away from Berhampur. These hills are the ones which are often mentioned in the poetry of Kali Dasa and Sarala Das other than its mention in archaeological works. The Shivaratri festival is the main reason why huge number of people visits this place every year.
