                                                      Heritage Walk : Bhubaneswar


The heritage walk of Bhubaneswar to sea the magnificent temple architecture, lifestyle of Priests and their livelihood. The walk takes place early morning from Mukteswar temple. The idea is to experience the richness of temples ranging from 6th century to 13 century. The total walk stretch is ranging from 3 km to 5 km depending upon temperature & interest of the visitors. The streets & bazaars around the temple are unique in their nature, the vegetable vendors with their fresh green vegetables, colorful flowers,local street foods, stalls selling religious books, picture frames, etc etc. There are also sacred tanks for prayers, numerous budget rest house (Local people call it Dhamasala),large scale temple kitchens, smoke coming out from the royal kitchen takes us to past page of human habitat.


This tour is excellent for those interested in photographing important monuments as well as daily street life. Bhubaneswar is the capital of the Indian state of Odisha. It is the largest city in Odisha and Major centre of economic and cultural importance in Eastern India. The native name Bhubaneswar derived from the word Tribhubaneswar, which literally means the Lord of the Three Worlds, which refers to Shiva, the deity of the Lingaraj Temple.


The heritage walks to the old city of Bhubaneswar, to see the magnificent temple architecture, history and culture. We have three walking trails to show case the heritage of Odisha in this day tour:

Trail 1: Heritage Walk; Old City Bhubaneswar

The walk is organised every day. The total walk stretch is 3 km. The heritage walk includes the following trails:

Trail 2: Hand-loom Walk: Kalabhoomi

The Hand-looms galleries display unique and antique raw materials and equipment as well as variety of Hand looms from across the state. The textiles of Odisha have gained worldwide acclaim and reputation for design and quality. And it is a reflection of its cultural ethos with intricate weaves giving it a distinct personality. The thread work, motifs and vibrant colors make them rich and desirable that can turn heads, make an unmistakable style statement and also be passed down for generations, making it a prized heirloom.The typical design motifs include rows of birds and animals, fish, seashells,rudraksh beads and temple spires etc are make the Odia textile products very beautiful. Thousands of weavers are inhabited in remote villages living with age old traditions, creating superb workmanship on silk, cotton, tusser fabrics. The weavers of each region work in their own distinctive style. Odisha saris are made using all these beautiful textiles and techniques and areconsequently some of the most pretty and unique saris in India. They aregreatly influence http:// d by the Jagannath (Hindu deity worshiped in Odisha) culture and frequently display temple borders, mythological designs and the traditional colors of Jagannath.

Museum walk are an important activity to create awareness among people about the history and culture of Odisha. It motivates tourists, and local population to visit rich cultural/ archaeological/ architectural sites. Museum walk are the mediums to initiate community based efforts for conservation and preservation of heritage, art and crafts.
